WE SAVE HIVES

While attending the annual Western Veterinary Conference, I attended three lectures on honey bees. Much to my surprise, honey bees are classified as animals and veterinarians that work with honey bee colonies are livestock veterinarians! I learned that the honey bee population is down by 25% in the Unites States. Honey bees pollinate many of our fruits and nuts. Did you know that almond trees are ONLY pollinated by the honey bees? Because of strict rules concerning the appropriate use of antibiotics, bee hive keepers are in need of veterinary help. I have now ordered three books on bee keeping and honey bee veterinarian medicine. I would look to help restore the balance in the honey bee population.
